Subaru pioneered Symmetrical All Wheel Drive over 30 years ago and it remains one of its defining achievements. The combination of Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and the Traction Control System incorporated within the Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control system (VDC) optimises tyre traction and provides the driver with outstanding control. Partnered with our horizontally-opposed Boxer engine, and symmetrical drivetrain, it gives you a sense of poise and balance that not only inspires confidence, but also delivers optimum safety.

The drivetrain of a Subaru is perfectly symmetrical with the engine, transmission, propeller shaft and rear differential all arranged in a straight line. The result is ideal weight distribution, a low centre of gravity, and perfect balance giving you sure-footed control, and smooth, receptive handling.

The sense of control you feel behind the wheel owes a lot to our intelligent chassis design and finely tuned suspension. The light but rigid materials in the chassis give the car extra agility, and the McPherson strut-type independent front suspension, a double wishbone rear suspension and speed sensitive power-assisted steering combine to provide a smooth, controlled ride, with lots of road-holding grip.
