Subaru’s Forester range has been revised for 2015 with sharper pricing for the five model range and the introduction of the Subaru Lineartronic transmission with the Forester 2.0 litre Diesel.
Prices have been realigned between $3000 and $5000 across the range with the 2015 models also incorporating a number of new features.
All Foresters have Symmetrical All Wheel Drive as standard with genuine off road capability thanks to the 220 mm ground clearance, yet are equally at home in city and urban environments. And the Forester has a five star ANCAP safety rating.
The entry level 2.5i is priced at $39,990, a reduction of $5000, the same price decrease as the 2.5i Premium which is now $49,990.
The mid-range 2.5i Sport has come down $3000 to $44,990. The Forester 2.0 Diesel, now with Lineartronic transmission is $46,990, a $3000 reduction on the outgoing manual gearbox Forester Diesel.
And the turbocharged 2.0 XT Premium is now $54,990, a drop of $5000.
“The continuing strength of the New Zealand dollar against the yen has helped us with pricing from the factory in Japan,” said Wallis Dumper, the Managing Director of Subaru of New Zealand.
“And we want our genuine SUV to be more competitive with the many two wheel drive wanna-be crossover vehicles.”
All 2015 Forester models now have the same infotainment system as the recently launched Outback. Both Premium models add Satellite Navigation.
Externally the 2015 Forester can be identified by its new shark fin antenna and day time running lights.
The new Forester is available at authorised Subaru dealers now, supported by a five year finance deal at 0% interest, payable by as little as $94 a week on the 2.5i. This offer has a 40 percent deposit and is available until 30 June with terms and conditions.
The Forester was victorious in a comparison test with all its main rivals conducted by NZ 4WD magazine late last year. Judges were impressed by the Forester’s all round ability where it was top or equal top in eight of the nine categories. It particularly stood out in four areas – ride and refinement, powertrain performance, road holding and handling in all conditions and overall fitness for purpose.
All Forester models have Subaru’s Lineartronic automatic transmission with the option of steering column paddle shifters for manual control when necessary.
The Forester has automatic stop/start engine technology to save fuel. There are 7 airbags, rear-view reverse camera, and rigid passenger safety cell. The X-Mode All Wheel Drive assist system is standard on all models and helps get you further still with increased off-road functionality.
The current Forester was the recipient of the NBR Crossover Car of the Year in 2013 and has won numerous other Car of the Year or category awards since.
