Subaru has two cars in NZ Car of the Year

Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Subaru of New Zealand is thrilled to announce two of its cars – the Legacy and the Outback – are finalists in this year's New Zealand Car of the Year awards.

The all-new 2015 Subaru Outback has been a resounding success story. A capable and charismatic SUV, it became a record-breaker for Subaru New Zealand in July –with more Outbacks selling in seven months than Subaru New Zealand had ever sold in a year.

The 2015 September sales figures saw the incredibly popular Subaru Outback making up 53% of the company’s monthly sales.

The stylish sixth generation Legacy, has a long list of prestige features in what many will consider to be a large sized medium car.

Twenty six years after its New Zealand debut, Legacy offers outstanding packaging in a premium, high-strength body. The Legacy is a grand touring car, offering an ideal combination of comfort, safety and sporty high-quality road performance - regardless of weather or road conditions, thanks to its All Wheel Drive ability.

Subaru of New Zealand Managing Director Wallis Dumper was delighted to see both Subaru models making the finalist list.

“Legacy and Outback are two great examples of the appeal our Subaru models have for Kiwi drivers who appreciate the invisible advantages of our Symmetrical All Wheel Drive technology.”

“The 2015Subaru Outback is competitively priced and is loaded with technology, like X-Mode and our winning driver assist system Eyesight, which appears in all of the petrol variants.

“The Subaru Legacy has proved itself to be a popular sedan choice despite no longer being available in wagon format. It ticks all the boxes for New Zealanders, who are looking for an alternative to their large rear wheel drive Australian car, with its spaciousness, six cylinder boxer engine and stylish design,” Mr Dumper says.

The New Zealand Automobile Association and New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild (NZMWG) will announce the Car of the Year at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland on December 9.

Members of the guild and AA judges who have driven the top 10 cars will independently rank each of them on a number of elements including value, design and quality - the best of which will become the 2015 New Zealand Car of the Year.

For the first time the public will also have a say with the New Zealand Car of the Year Peoples' Choice award. From November 1, the public will have a chance to vote for one of the top 10 finalists both on AA's Facebook page and website www.aa.co.nz.

The safest car for 2015 will also be announced at the December 9 event based on Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) crash test results.
