Subaru NZ achieves all-time monthly sales record in April

Subaru of New Zealand has delivered an incredible all-time monthly sales record in April, more than doubling the April 2017 result, with a 103% increase year-on-year.

The outstanding result of 372 units was a testament to the 16-strong Subaru Authorized Dealer team who helped turbo-charge Subaru passenger and SUV sales ahead of major automotive players Ford, Honda, Nissan and Volkswagen.

The lion’s share of sales were dominated by SUV models with the Subaru Outback selling 146 units and proving itself even more popular with New Zealanders following the recent 2018 model launch.

Subaru of New Zealand Managing Director Wallis Dumper says: “The Subaru Outback is still right at home in New Zealand, which is proven by the number of Kiwis buying our largest SUV, who have catapulted it to be our top-seller.”

“Our 2018 enhancements included both cosmetic and technology upgrades and these have made the Outback even more appealing, especially given we haven’t changed the RRPs, which start at $44,990.”

Subaru’s compact SUV, the XV, continues to be a rising star following the launch of the second generation model last year. Nearly one year on since the all-new model has been on sale in New Zealand, the XV is still taking the market by storm, achieving record monthly sales in April with 139 units sold.

This super-popular Subaru was the second-highest seller in the industry’s small SUV segment for April.

Mr Dumper says: “The Subaru XV is a true all-rounder. Starting at only $34,990, it comes with loads of style, substance and class-leading safety features. We believe it is one of the most versatile vehicles on the market, as the XV looks the part in the city and equally looks great covered in mud! Thanks to its All-Wheel Drive, it can also get through it.”

“Our record result shows the strength and relevance of the Subaru brand to Kiwis and their lifestyles. It is a result of the momentum we have been building on over the past five years, which has been achieved through focus and planning, with both my team and the Subaru dealer network.”

“Our little Subaru family have worked hard to achieve what they have last month and we look forward to seeing what new heights we can take the Subaru brand to in New Zealand in the future,” Mr Dumper concludes.
