Subaru Outback wins NZ Autocar Car of the Year class award

Subaru's Outback has won the New Zealand Autocar Car of the Year $50 to $65K Class award.

The Subaru Outback has further bolstered its reputation as the Greatest Outback Of All Time (GOOAT) by winning the New Zealand Autocar Car of the Year $50 to $65K Class award.

Autocar magazine reviewed over 80 new vehicles over the past year. From those new arrivals, they selected class winners from various price points and speciality segments of the market. Each vehicle was critiqued on a range of aspects including design, safety, efficiency, driving dynamics, practicality and value for money.

New Zealand Autocar Editor Kyle Cassidy was full of praise for the GOOAT.

“The new Outback mimics that which went before it. Everything has been reconsidered to provide incremental improvements in all respects. And combined they add up to form the perfect wagon to carry you and the family to every corner of New Zealand,” he stated in the awards media release.

Subaru of New Zealand’s Managing Director Wallis Dumper acknowledged that the Autocar award is another feather in the sixth generation Outback’s cap.

“We always believed this latest iteration of our largest and most popular SUV was going to be well-received by Kiwi drivers and its sales and accolades have backed that up.”

“Our Boxer-engined beauty also received the AA/Driven New Zealand Car of the Year 2021 Safest Car award last year, which is a great nod to the prowess of our Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive engineering technology that underpins all our New Zealand-new Subarus.”
