Safety Features - Subaru XV
The Subaru XV offers safety without compromise. With a 5-Star ANCAP1 safety rating, EyeSight® clever crash avoidance technology and the Subaru Boxer engine, the XV is designed to get you to your destination safely.
EyeSight® Clever Crash Avoidance Technology
EyeSight® is a second pair of eyes that monitor the road ahead and recognises potentially dangerous driving situations. Using three dimensional images captured by cameras mounted at the top of the windscreen, EyeSight® provides audible and visual warnings to prompt the driver to take action. EyeSight® will also apply automatic braking intervention, when necessary, to help avoid or reduce the severity of a detected frontal collision.
- Pre-Collision Braking
- Pre-Collision Brake Assist
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Sway and Lane Departure Warning
- Lead vehicle start alert
- Brake light (colour) recognition
- Lane Keep Assist

The Boxer engine sits low in the engine bay to help reduce the risk of injury to occupants by sliding below the cabin – not into it - in the event of a severe frontal collision.
Vehicle Dynamic Control and Braking Systems
Safety designed to help prevent loss of control is delivered via improved Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), which constantly monitors vehicle movement, engaging a range of technologies when required. With precision timing the VDC controls the Antilock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), TCS Limited Slip Device, Brake Override System (BOS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA).
Rear View Reverse Camera
The XV features a rear view reverse camera as standard. The new, ultra-wide angle camera provides an improved rear field of vision to help reduce the risk of collisions with surrounding objects.
The XV Premium also features Reverse Automatic Braking. This collision avoidance feature will detect objects while the vehicle is in reverse, and sound a series of beeps and show visual indicators to alert you that an object is behind you. If you don't react, Subaru Reverse Automatic Braking activates - and the brakes are immediately applied to help you avoid a potential collision. If you’re towing a trailer then the system can be easily deactivated.
Your safety is at the forefront of Subaru design, that’s why we build safety features like airbags and our ring-shaped passenger cell into every Subaru.
The XV features a total of seven airbags - including dual front, front side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags to help protect occupants in the event of an accident. The advanced airbag system uses an array of sensors to help deploy the airbags in the most effective way possible.
Safety continues with an improved chassis and a body frame reinforced to increase frontal, side and rear crash safety. The shock absorbing bonnet design and designated crumple zones direct impact energy away from the reinforced passenger safety cell.
The result of our collision protection safety features is a maximum 5-star ANCAP1 crashworthiness rating.
